On August 21st parts the U.S. will be able to see a total solar eclipse. Those of us not in the direct path will at least see a partial eclipse. Here’s a map of what it will look like where you are. Only people at the very tip of Maine will miss it entirely. The last time the U.S. was able to observe a total eclipse was 1979! Are you in the direct path? Have a plan to travel to see it in totality? Having an eclipse party?
Voyagers 1 and 2 were launched in 1977 and are still out there sending back data. Alexi and I got to see a preview of this documentary at Cal Tech last weekend and hear stories from some of the scientists themselves. It’s fascinating.
