What is Fussy Cutting, you ask? From Nichole and Elisabeth:
Do you listen to podcasts? I like to listen while I’m sewing, driving or cleaning up. Here are few I’ve been listening to lately with suggested episodes to try.
Try Season Two, The Footsoldier of Birmingham.
My name is Lauren and I get Botox. Please don’t judge me. Or do, but do it nicely, if that’s a thing.
I think the first time I got Botox was about 10 years ago. I had seen a photo of myself with my son and I was shocked at how tired and droopy I looked. I asked my dermatologist about it and she was all “It’s great!” and I was like “Do you do it?” and she was all “Totally!” So I said okay, I’ll try it for the crow’s feet.
I’m very excited that we will have a pool at our new house. I thought my choices for pool floats would be limited to basically swan or flamingo. However, there are soooo many fun choices that now I can’t decide! I know, #firstworldproblems. But they are happy to look at so if you’re inclined, let me know your thoughts!
OBVI there’s flamingoes. Of all shapes and shades of pink and in sizes ranging from toddler to “will there be room in the pool for anything else”. Swans come in not only white, but black and gold! Dang, so trendy!
We just sold our home. Since Alexi and I have been married, we’ve never lived anywhere as long as we’ve lived in this house. We fixed it up, remodeled, added space.
I’m a little attached, but excited for a change as well.
When we first got married we were living in a studio apartment in Brooklyn.
A few months later we moved into a one bedroom railroad apartment, also in Brooklyn, above a Dominican restaurant that played computerized salsa music until midnight every day. We had our first child while living there.
After that we bought our first apartment on the edge of Red Hook. It had what they called 3 bedrooms. It was about 1100 square feet. Look at that kitchen. That’s literally all of it right there in that picture.
I recently had the great fortune to attend a four day workshop with Denyse Schmidt in Napa, California. The workshop was organized by the Modern Quilt Guild and was hosted by Pokey Bolton in her gorgeous Art Barn.
When my friend Billi and I went to pick up our rental car, the guy gave us a Mustang convertible for super cheap! Score!
San Luis Obispo, also known as SLO, is on the central coast of our lovely state of Cali. Alexi and I went up recently for my friend Casie’s wedding. I showed you our outfits here, remember? This was our second visit to SLO and the second time we stayed at the iconic Madonna Inn!
Every room has a different, kitschy theme. We stayed in the Carin Room this time, a little to Alexi’s chagrin. Hey when you book it, you choose it! You can check out all the rooms here.
June Gloom is a real thing here in L.A. It really starts at the end of May (May Gray). The mornings are cloudy and dark, sometimes even drizzly and foggy, making it difficult to wake up in the morning.
However, since most of our days here are sunny, it can be a welcome change of pace for awhile.
